Terms of Service
Last updated: 7 October 2026
1. What ApprenticeHack is
ApprenticeHack is a free, non-profit community that organises hackathons and build events for degree apprentices in the UK. We are not a company — we are a group of apprentices who volunteer their time.
2. Your account
When you create an account, you agree to provide accurate information. You are responsible for keeping your password secure. One account per person — no shared or fake accounts.
We can suspend or delete accounts that violate these terms or are inactive for more than 12 months.
3. What you can do
- Register for events
- Build projects at hackathons
- Earn badges and build your profile
- Connect with other apprentices
4. What you can't do
- Impersonate someone else
- Harass, bully, or discriminate against other members
- Share other members' personal information without consent
- Use the platform for commercial purposes or spam
- Attempt to access other users' accounts or our systems
5. Events and hackathons
Most events are free to attend. Where an event has a cost, this will be clearly stated on the event page before registration. When you register, you commit to attending — if you can't make it, let us know so we can offer your spot to someone else.
At events, you agree to follow the venue's rules, the event code of conduct, and to behave respectfully towards all participants, organisers, and sponsors.
6. Your projects
You own whatever you build at our events. ApprenticeHack does not claim any intellectual property rights over your hackathon projects.
By submitting a project to the showcase, you grant us permission to display your project name, description, team members, and screenshots on our website.
7. Your data
We collect the minimum data needed to run the community: your account credentials, profile information (name, company, apprenticeship, experience level, AI tools, avatar), event registrations, project submissions, and badges. Your data is stored in a database hosted by Supabase. See our Privacy Policy for full details on what we collect, where it's stored, and your rights.
We will never sell your data. We use it only to run your account, manage events, and communicate with you about ApprenticeHack activities. You can update your profile, set it to private, or delete your account from your settings page at any time.
8. Photos and media
We may take photos and videos at events for use on our website and social media. If you don't want to appear in photos, let an organiser know at the event and we'll respect that.
9. Liability
ApprenticeHack is run by volunteers. We do our best, but we can't guarantee uninterrupted service, and we're not liable for any issues arising from event attendance, project outcomes, or platform availability.
Events are held at third-party venues. We are not responsible for the venues themselves — please follow all venue safety guidelines.
10. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms as the community grows. We'll notify you of significant changes via email. Continued use of the platform after changes means you accept the updated terms.
