What we collect
ApprenticeHack is the data controller for the information collected through the registration form on this site: your name, email, phone number (only if you choose to give it), company, what your apprenticeship is in, experience level, the AI tools you tell us you have access to, and who referred you (only if you fill it in).
Why we collect it, and our lawful basis
We use this to add you to the ApprenticeHack community and let you know when hackathons open up so you can choose whether to enter, and to plan what to bring based on the tools people have access to. We rely on your consent (given by submitting the form) as our lawful basis for processing this data. You can withdraw that consent at any time by asking us to delete your data — see below.
Where your data goes
Submissions are sent directly to a Google Sheet via a Google Apps Script endpoint. We do not use any other third party, and we do not sell, rent, or otherwise share your data with anyone outside ApprenticeHack. This site sets no cookies and uses no analytics or advertising trackers.
Who has access
Only the ApprenticeHack organising team has access to the Google Sheet, and access is limited to what's needed to run the community and hackathons — placing you on the mailing list, planning events, and following up with you directly.
How long we keep it
We keep your data for as long as you're an active member of the community. If you haven't engaged with us (opened an email, joined an event, or replied to us) for 24 months, we'll delete your data unless you tell us you'd like to stay on the list.
Your rights
Under UK GDPR, you have the right to: access the data we hold on you; have inaccurate data corrected; ask us to delete your data ("the right to be forgotten"); restrict how we process it; receive a copy in a portable format; and object to our processing at any time. We don't use your data for any automated decision-making.
If you ask us to delete your data
We will remove your row from the Google Sheet and confirm by email once it's done, usually within a few working days. This can't be undone, and if you want to rejoin the community afterwards you'll need to submit the form again.
Contact and complaints
You can ask us to access, correct, or delete your data at any time by emailing team@apprenticehack.co.uk, and you can complain to the UK's Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk if you think we've mishandled it.
